  • ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Exclusively available at the 2025 edition of District 13 at Drouot Paris, Seth’s Vortex Girl embodies several recurring themes in his work, including childhood innocence, imagination, and escape. His distinctive style features children, often seen from behind, immersed in dreamlike and colorful worlds.

As in many of Seth’s works, Vortex Girl portrays a child absorbed in a swirling vortex of colors. This vortex can symbolize a passage into an inner world, an escape from reality, or the boundless power of imagination. The swirling effect suggests transition, perhaps between two realities, between childhood and adulthood, or between dream and reality.

The child is depicted from behind, a signature visual element in Seth’s art, allowing viewers to identify with the figure and project their own interpretation onto the scene.A Reflection on Innocence and the Adult WorldSeth explores the idea that childhood imagination serves as a refuge from the complexities of the real world. In Vortex Girl, the child appears to be drawn into this colorful vortex, often contrasting with a more neutral or subdued background. This can be seen as a metaphor for how imagination both protects and transports individuals.Like much of Seth’s work, Vortex Girl is more than just a visually striking image — it invites the viewer to reflect on their own relationship with dreams, escape, and childhood.
